Enhanced Editions

There is (perhaps rightly) a lot of scepticism about e-books, especially from the publishing industry and avid readers. I don’t think for a moment that they’re going to be the future of the book and bring an end to the traditional dead tree variety. But they certainly offer a more portable and highly technological alternative. So far, however, most of what’s on offer seems to have done little more than just transfer the text into electronic form. A new British venture called Enhanced Editions is going that bit further … and their ideas looks intriguing, to say the least. Their first release is Nick Cave’s new novel The Death of Bunny Munro - complete with many extra features including an audio version - and that will be followed by Barack Obama. And no, I’m not being paid by the company to write this.
